Let’s Have a Beach Wedding in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Myrtle Beach weddings, on the beach, are allowed in the town of Myrtle Beach itself, if the wedding is very low key and is not produced by a commercial company. That means, a bride and groom and their officiant can stand on a sandy public beach, before a few friends and family, for a simple ceremony.
If, however, you prefer a more formal wedding on the beach, you should consider the town of North Myrtle Beach. While you can still have a simple ceremony, a more elaborate wedding service can have your guests seated in white chairs on the sand with an aisle of rose petals for the bride’s grand procession. Ceremony music can be played by a string quartet and the bride and her soon-to-be husband can exchange vows under a decorated arch as the breeze blows from off-shore.
The area has many professional planning companies that offer wedding packages which will arrange the entire beach event. They will schedule your time, have all the accessories delivered and arrange for photography, music, etc. Custom invitations and save-the-dates are also included in some packages. A few of these companies are affiliated with a chapel that can act as a backup for the ceremony in the event of bad weather. The couple will just need to bring their South Carolina marriage license. (Come to the area at least a day before the wedding, as there is a 24 hour waiting period to get the license)
A Wedding Overlooking the Beach
Some of the seaside resorts of Myrtle Beach have large verandas or grassy lawns that overlook the ocean waves. Wedding ceremonies are often held on the hotel grounds in conjunction with the bride and groom being guests of the resort or having a wedding reception booked at the venue.
So if having sand between your toes as you say “I do”, is not part of the equation, then this can be an excellent option for you.
What Do We Do After the Wedding?
So whether you decide on a commercially produced beach wedding, or a simple one, or one overlooking the beach, you will still be very close to all that is happening on the Grand Strand. This allows for lots of options for having a reception after your ceremony or not. Perhaps a dinner at a restaurant for close friends and family or a full reception in the ballroom of one of the many seaside resorts where you can dance late in the night.
All up and down the Grand Strand, from the laid back town of Surfside Beach in the south up through North Myrtle Beach, you’ll find all types of accommodations from historic inns, bed & breakfasts and rental houses to condos, hotels, resorts, for your extended South Carolina vacation or honeymoon.
Now What?
Check with the Myrtle Beach town you are considering, or a professional wedding planning company in the region, well in advance of your wedding day to get all your “ducks in a row” for the perfect wedding by the sea. And plan to spend a few days before or after the wedding to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
