Wedding Reception Dances

It Takes Two to Tango

The First Dance is the first official dance of the newlyweds. This is usually to a song or melody that is special and meaningful to them. The Bride and her father will dance a Father/Daughter dance as will the Groom and his mother dance a Mother/Son dance. After these dances, the dance floor is then opened to the assembled guests. 022

The Money Dance is a dance for all where guests may put cash in the bride’s purse. This money is traditionally used to help pay for a honeymoon. And of course, the Last Dance, is the final dance of the reception.

Spice up Your Reception with Ethnic Dances and Music

You can include dances from your own ethnic background or bring in different ethnic traditional dances to add pizazz and fun. Most Bands and DJs have a repertoire of ethnic music and can teach the simple steps for dancing. Why not do the Tarantella which is popular at Italian weddings or the Hora from Jewish weddings or the Mexican Hat Dance.
